Mini Skid Steer Angle Broom

Light snow, packed residue, and year-round sweeping — without chipping pavers. Angle brooms for Yellow Jacket mini skid steers.

The broom is the attachment people buy for snow and end up using twelve months a year.

In winter it clears light snow and scrapes packed residue down to bare surface — which is what actually prevents the ice layer that causes slip-and-fall claims. The rest of the year it sweeps construction sites, barn aisles, retail yards, and anywhere a surface needs to be clean rather than just clear.

It's also the right answer on pavers and decorative concrete, where a steel plow edge chips and scars.

What You'll Use It For

Winter

  • Light snow on walks and entrances
  • Scraping packed snow and residue to bare surface
  • Cleanup after plowing
  • Decorative paving where a blade would cause damage

Year-round

  • Construction site and roadway cleanup
  • Barn aisles, wash stalls, and concrete pads
  • Retail yards and garden center surfaces
  • Dock aprons and warehouse yards
  • Parking lot sweeping
  • Post-project cleanup on driveways and streets
  • Athletic surfaces and track cleanup

Why It Beats a Blade on Decorative Surfaces

Steel cutting edges catch on paver joints, chip edges, and scar stamped concrete. Once you've damaged a customer's hardscape, it's an expensive repair and usually a lost account.

Bristles conform to the surface, ride over joints, and don't gouge. On high-end residential and commercial properties with decorative paving, the broom is the tool that doesn't create problems.

How to Spec It

Width. Match your narrowest regular route.

Bristle material.

  • Poly — standard, good general-purpose wear, gentler
  • Wire — aggressive on packed material and heavy debris, harder on surfaces
  • Combination poly/wire — the common compromise for mixed duty

Angling. Hydraulic angling lets you change cast direction from the seat, which matters on a route where you're sweeping toward different edges. Manual angling means stopping.

Water spray kit. Suppresses dust on dry sweeping. Worth having for construction cleanup and anywhere dust is a nuisance or a compliance issue.

Bristle diameter and density. Denser brooms sweep more effectively and last longer. Bristles are consumables — they wear down and eventually the broom stops reaching.

Flow requirement. Brooms are continuous-rotation attachments with moderate hydraulic demand.

Hydraulic HP = (GPM × PSI) ÷ 1,714

Which Models Run It

Moderate flow demand — most models handle a properly sized broom.

YJ1000 / YJ1200 — the standard range.
YJ2000 / YJ3000 — larger brooms and sustained sweeping.

Angle Broom FAQ

Can it replace a plow?

For light snow, yes. For accumulation, no — a broom moves a couple of inches effectively, not eight. Most operations run a plow for the volume and a broom for the finish and for decorative surfaces.

Will it clear packed snow and ice?

Packed snow, largely — that's one of its best uses, because scraping to bare surface is what prevents refreeze. Solid ice needs de-icer.

Poly or wire bristles?

Poly for general use and surface protection. Wire for aggressive scraping of packed material, at the cost of more surface wear. Combination brooms split the difference.

How long do bristles last?

They're consumables. Life depends on surface abrasiveness and how hard you press — running a broom with heavy down pressure wears it much faster than letting the bristles work.

Is it useful outside winter?

Very. Construction cleanup, barn aisles, retail yards, and dock aprons keep it working year-round, which improves the purchase math considerably.

Do I need the water kit?

For dry sweeping on construction sites, it makes a real difference in dust — and dust control is a compliance matter on some sites.

Will one from another brand fit?

If it's a universal mini skid mount and the flow matches.

Any maintenance?

Inspect bristle wear, grease the drive and pivot points, check the motor mounting hardware, and rinse salt off after winter use.
