Two things determine whether an attachment works on a machine, and people usually only check the first one.
1. Does the mounting plate fit?
2. Does the machine have the hydraulic flow the attachment needs?
An attachment can bolt on perfectly and still perform badly, because the plate is a mechanical question and flow is a performance question. Both have to check out.
The Mounting Plate
Most of this category has standardized on a universal mini skid steer mount — sometimes called the universal mini quick-attach or the common industry interface for mini loaders.
Brands generally using the universal mount: Toro Dingo, Ditch Witch, Vermeer, Boxer, Kanga, Ramrod, and most import brands. Attachments built for any of these generally fit any other.
Yellow Jacket ships the universal plate as standard equipment on every model — not as a paid option.
The notable exception is Bobcat. Bobcat's published specifications list their proprietary Bob-Tach as standard on the MT-series, with the universal Common Industry Interface as an option. That means:
- A Bob-Tach attachment needs an adapter to run on a universal machine
- A Bobcat machine needs the optional universal interface to run universal attachments
If you own Bobcat attachments and are cross-shopping machines, that's a real cost to factor in. If you own universal attachments, they'll fit a Yellow Jacket without modification.
Always confirm the specific attachment. Manufacturers change designs, and "universal" isn't a certified standard — it's an industry convention. Check before ordering.
The Hydraulic Question
This is where compatibility actually gets decided for powered attachments.
Every hydraulically driven attachment publishes a minimum and maximum flow requirement in GPM, at a given pressure. Run it below the minimum and it stalls, heats, and wears prematurely. Run it above the maximum and you can damage the motor.
Hydraulic HP = (GPM × PSI) ÷ 1,714
Non-hydraulic attachments — buckets, forks, grapples with no motor, blades, levelers, spears — have no flow requirement. Fitment is purely mechanical, and the only limit is weight and capacity.
Low-flow attachments — grapple clamping, blade angling, hopper dumping — use hydraulics intermittently. Nearly any machine runs them.
High-flow attachments — mulchers, stump grinders, snow blowers, rock saws, trenchers, augers, brooms, tillers, breakers — need sustained flow. This is where machines and attachments mismatch.
Compatibility by Attachment Type
| Attachment | Hydraulic demand | Typical constraint |
|---|---|---|
| Bucket | None | Capacity |
| Pallet forks | None | Capacity, load center |
| Bale spear | None | Capacity, load center |

| Grading blade | Low (positioning) | Traction |
| Snow blade / pusher | None to low | Traction |
| V-plow | Low | Traction |
| Grapple bucket / root grapple | Low | Capacity |
| 4-in-1 bucket | Low | Capacity |
| Boom pole | None | Capacity at reach |
| Auger | Moderate–high | Flow, bit diameter |
| Trencher | Moderate–high | Flow, soil |

| Harley rake | Moderate–high | Flow |
| Tiller | High | Flow |
| Hydraulic breaker | High | Flow and carrier weight |
| Brush cutter | High | Flow |
| Stump grinder | High | Flow |
| Snow blower | High | Flow |
| Forestry mulcher | Highest | Flow — 50 hp+ recommended |
| Rock saw | Highest | Flow |
Yellow Jacket Flow by Model
| Model | Engine | Main aux flow (GPM) | Low-flow circuit (GPM) |
|---|---|---|---|
| YJ1000 | 25 HP Kubota D1105 diesel | 12.68 | — |
| YJ1100 | 25 HP Kubota D1105 diesel | 15 | — |
| YJ1200 | 25 HP Kubota D1703-M diesel | 12.68 | 2.6 |
| YJ2000 | 50 HP Yanmar 4TNV86CT diesel | 21.1 | 2.71 |
| YJ3000 | 75 HP Kubota V2607 diesel | 25.8 | 3.05 |
Relief pressure varies by configuration. Ask us for the figure on a specific machine and use it with the formula above to calculate hydraulic horsepower. The YJ1100's published auxiliary circuit is 15 GPM at 2,900 PSI — about 25 hydraulic HP.
The Breaker Exception
Hydraulic breakers have a second requirement most attachments don't: a carrier weight rating.
Breakers are rated for a range of machine operating weights. A breaker sized for a heavier carrier mounted on a lighter machine pushes the machine around instead of breaking material, and the impact loads travel back into the loader arms and mounting plate.
Check both flow and carrier weight before buying a breaker.
How to Check Your Own Combination
- Identify the mount on your attachment — universal or proprietary
- Find the attachment's flow range — minimum and maximum GPM, and required pressure
- Find the machine's auxiliary flow and relief pressure
- Confirm the machine falls inside the attachment's range
- For breakers, also check carrier weight
- For non-hydraulic attachments, check weight against rated capacity — and remember that load center reduces effective capacity
Send us the attachment's spec sheet and the machine you're running, and we'll check it for you.
FAQ
Will Bobcat attachments fit a Yellow Jacket?
Bob-Tach attachments need an adapter — same as they'd need on a Toro, Ditch Witch, or Vermeer machine. Bobcat attachments fitted with the universal Common Industry Interface will fit directly.
Will Yellow Jacket attachments fit other brands?
Yes, on any machine equipped for the universal mini skid mount.
Will Toro, Ditch Witch, or Vermeer attachments fit?
Generally yes, if they use the universal mount. Confirm the specific attachment.
Can I buy used attachments?
That's one of the practical benefits of a universal plate — the used market is open to you. Buckets, forks, and grapples hold up well secondhand. Check hydraulic attachments more carefully.
What happens if the flow is too low?
Poor performance first, then heat — and heat is what causes damage. Sustained under-feeding shortens the life of both the attachment motor and the machine's hydraulic system.
What if the flow is too high?
Can damage the attachment's motor. Less common, but check the maximum as well as the minimum.
Can I run two attachments at once?
No — one at a time on a single auxiliary circuit.
Do I need to worry about coupler size?
Yes. Flat-face and pioneer-style couplers both exist. Confirm compatibility or plan on adapters.
