Mini Skid Steer Concrete Mixer Bowl

Mix and place concrete where the truck can't reach. Mixer bowl attachments for Yellow Jacket mini skid steers.

A mixer bowl is a rotating drum on the quick-attach plate. You load material and water, it mixes, and you carry the mixed concrete to the pour and discharge it there.

The use case is narrow but real: pours the ready-mix truck can't reach. Backyard footings, remote fence and deck footings, small slabs behind a house, and repair work where ordering a truck isn't practical or economical.

What You'll Use It For

  • Backyard footings and small slabs
  • Deck and pergola footings behind gates
  • Fence and gate post setting in volume
  • Remote sign and light post footings
  • Small repair pours
  • Mixing mortar for wall and hardscape work
  • Sites with no truck access
  • Jobs too small to justify a ready-mix delivery
  • Farm and rural work far from a plant

When It Makes Sense — and When It Doesn't

Makes sense: you regularly pour small volumes in places a truck can't reach, and you're currently mixing in a wheelbarrow or a portable mixer and hauling it by hand.

Doesn't make sense: you pour anything of real volume. Ready-mix is cheaper, more consistent, and dramatically faster for any pour a truck can reach. Mixing on site is a solution to an access problem, not a cost problem.

Consistency is the real consideration. Ready-mix is batched to spec with controlled water-cement ratio. On-site mixing depends on the operator measuring correctly every batch, and inconsistent batches mean inconsistent strength. For anything structural, that matters — know what strength the design requires and mix to a proportioned recipe rather than by eye.

How to Spec It

Capacity. Batch size per load. Larger means fewer cycles but more weight — wet concrete is heavy.

Discharge. How it empties matters for placement control. Some discharge by tilting; some have a chute.

Rotation drive. Hydraulic motor turning the drum. Confirm flow requirement.

Weight loaded. A full bowl of wet concrete is a substantial load well forward of the machine. Check against rated capacity, accounting for load center.

Cleaning access. The single most important practical consideration. Cured concrete in the drum is permanent, so how easily and thoroughly it washes out determines whether the attachment lasts.

Which Models Run It

Capacity and flow both matter. Wet concrete is dense.

YJ1000 / YJ1200 — the practical range.
YJ2000 — larger bowls.

FAQ

Is this cheaper than ready-mix?

Generally no. Ready-mix is cheaper per yard and more consistent. This solves access, not cost.

How much can it mix per batch?

Depends on the bowl. For any meaningful volume you're doing multiple batches, which is why it suits small pours.

Will the mix be strong enough?

Only if you proportion it correctly and consistently. Structural work needs a known strength — measure your materials rather than eyeballing, and follow a proportioned recipe. If strength is critical and a truck can reach, use ready-mix.

Can I mix mortar in it?

Generally yes. Confirm with the manufacturer for the specific attachment.

What happens if concrete cures in it?

It's a serious and often permanent problem. Wash it out immediately and completely after every use — this is the most important maintenance item on the attachment.

Will one from another brand fit?

If it's a universal mini skid mount and the flow matches.
