Mini Skid Steer Dumping Hopper

Collect, carry, and dump in one motion. Dumping hoppers for Yellow Jacket mini skid steers.

A dumping hopper is a container that mounts to the quick-attach plate and tips to empty. It's less common than a bucket and it solves a specific problem: collecting loose material by hand and dumping it by machine.

Where a bucket scoops from the ground, a hopper is loaded by people — raking, shoveling, or throwing debris into it — then carried and dumped. That makes it a cleanup and collection tool rather than a digging one.

What You'll Use It For

  • Landscape cleanup crews loading debris by hand
  • Leaf and yard waste collection
  • Construction site cleanup where debris is picked up rather than scooped
  • Shop and facility waste collection
  • Collecting material from areas the machine can't reach
  • Moving scrap and recycling
  • Grounds crews working across a property
  • Loading dumpsters with hand-collected material

Hopper vs. Bucket

Bucket — scoops from the ground. Better for anything loose on a surface the machine can drive on.

Hopper — loaded by hand from anywhere. Better when material is scattered, in beds, behind obstacles, or being collected by a crew working ahead of the machine.

The hopper's real value is that a crew can load it continuously while the operator does other work, then it gets carried and dumped. On a large cleanup, that's a different workflow than the operator scooping.

How to Spec It

Capacity. Larger holds more but weighs more when full. Material density matters — a hopper full of wet leaves is very different from dry.

Dump mechanism. Hydraulic dumping gives control. Gravity or latch-release dumping is simpler and cheaper but less controlled.

Height. Determines what you can dump over. Check against the containers you're loading.

Sides. Higher sides hold more; lower sides are easier to load by hand.

Weight. Check the empty weight plus a loaded capacity against machine rating.

Which Models Run It

Minimal or no hydraulic demand depending on the dump mechanism.

YJ1000 / YJ1200 — the general-purpose range.
YJ2000 / YJ3000 — larger capacity.

Trades That Use It Most

FAQ

Why not just use a bucket?

A bucket scoops; a hopper is hand-loaded. If your crew is picking up debris rather than the machine scooping it, a hopper fits the workflow better and holds material more securely.

Can it dump into a dumpster?

Depends on the container height and the machine's lift height. Check both.

How much will it hold?

Volume is one thing; weight is another. Wet material is much heavier than dry — check loaded weight against rated capacity.

Is it useful for leaves?

Very. Leaf cleanup is one of the most common uses, especially where crews are raking or blowing to piles.

Will one from another brand fit?

If it's a universal mini skid mount, yes.

Any maintenance?

Inspect the dump pivot and latch mechanism, grease pivots, and check for material buildup that prevents full dumping.
