A trailer mover is a hitch — ball, receiver, or pintle — on the quick-attach plate. It lets the machine reposition trailers without hooking to a truck.
Simple attachment, and it saves a specific frustration: spotting a trailer in a tight yard. A machine that pivots in its own footprint puts a trailer exactly where you want it in a fraction of the time a truck takes, without the back-and-forth.
What You'll Use It For
- Spotting trailers in tight yards and lots
- Repositioning equipment trailers on job sites
- Moving dump trailers around a yard
- Shuffling trailers in storage areas
- Positioning boat trailers in a boatyard
- Moving RVs and campers in a park
- Repositioning utility and landscape trailers
- Moving trailers where a truck can't maneuver
Important Limitations
This is a yard tool, not a road tool. Never tow on a public road with a machine.
Know the tongue weight. A loaded trailer's tongue weight is a real load on the attachment and the machine, and it sits well behind the mounting plate on a hitch. Confirm the attachment's rating and the machine's capacity.
Brakes. A trailer with surge or electric brakes won't have them functioning when connected to a machine. On any grade, that means the machine alone is stopping the trailer — which it may not be able to do. Move loaded trailers on level ground only, and chock before disconnecting.
Coupler security. Confirm the coupler is fully latched before moving. A trailer that drops off a ball while moving is dangerous.
How to Spec It
Hitch type. Ball, receiver tube, pintle, or a combination plate that accepts multiple. A multi-hitch plate is the practical choice if you move different trailers.
Ball size. Match to your trailers — 2 inch and 2-5/16 are the common sizes, and most yards have both.
Height. Where the hitch sits relative to the plate affects whether you can reach a trailer's coupler height. Adjustable is better.
Rating. Tongue weight capacity.
Which Models Run It
Non-hydraulic. Machine weight and traction determine what you can move.
YJ1000 / YJ1200 — the general-purpose range.
YJ2000 / YJ3000 — heavier trailers.
A heavier machine moves a heavier trailer — this is one of the few attachments where machine weight is directly the capability.
Trades That Use It Most
Marinas & Boatyards · Campgrounds & RV Parks · Warehouse & Industrial · Landscaping · Construction
FAQ
Can I tow on a road with it?
No. Yard use only.
How heavy a trailer can it move?
Depends on machine weight, traction, surface, and grade far more than on the attachment. Level, firm ground is the assumption.
What about trailer brakes?
They won't function connected to a machine. Level ground only with loaded trailers, and chock before disconnecting.
Can it move a loaded dump trailer?
Often, on level firm ground. Grade and surface change the answer quickly.
Can it move an RV?
Many campgrounds do exactly this. Same cautions — level ground, know the weight, chock it.
Will one from another brand fit?
If it's a universal mini skid mount, yes.
