Mini Skid Steer V-Plow

Vee through drifts, scoop to carry, angle to cast. Universal-fit V-plows for Yellow Jacket mini skid steers.

If you buy one snow attachment, buy this one.

A V-plow's moldboards pivot independently, which gives you four working configurations from a single tool. That versatility is why it's the default on sidewalk and tight-access work, where conditions change every fifty feet.

The Four Positions

Vee — both wings angled forward into a point. Breaks through drifts and packed banks by splitting them and casting both directions. This is what gets you through the pile at the end of a walk that the plow truck left.

Scoop — both wings angled back, forming a box. Carries snow rather than casting it. Use it when you need to move a load to a stacking area instead of throwing it to the side.

Straight — both wings in line. Standard pushing.

Angle — both wings angled the same direction. Casts snow to one side while traveling forward. The workhorse position on long walks where you're windrowing to one edge.

What You'll Use It For

  • Sidewalks, walkways, and pedestrian routes
  • Tight residential drives
  • Building entrances and ADA routes
  • Condo and apartment complex access lanes
  • Clearing around dumpsters, hydrants, and meters
  • Breaking through plow windrows at crosswalks
  • Stacking and relocating snow
  • Loading docks and service entrances

How to Spec It

Width. Match to your narrowest regular route, not your widest. A plow that doesn't fit the walk is useless; one that's slightly narrow just takes an extra pass.

Cutting edge. This matters more than people expect.

  • Steel — durable, scrapes to bare surface, and will chip pavers and scar stamped concrete.
  • Rubber or poly — gentler on decorative surfaces, quieter, and more forgiving over expansion joints and uneven walks. Wears faster.

If you service properties with decorative hardscape, spec accordingly or carry both.

Trip mechanism. Spring trip protects the plow and the machine when you hit a raised joint, a curb, or a frozen obstacle. Full-moldboard trip versus trip-edge designs both exist; either is better than none.

Shoes. Adjustable skid shoes let you set how close you scrape, which protects both the surface and the cutting edge.

Weight. Every pound comes off your effective capacity, though snow attachments are rarely capacity-limiting on these machines.

Which Models Run It

Plows are hydraulic for wing positioning but flow demand is low. Any Yellow Jacket runs one.

YJ1000 — the standard sidewalk combination.
YJ1200 — wide track gives better traction pushing heavy wet snow.
YJ2000 / YJ3000 — larger plows and heavier accumulation.

Traction, not lift capacity, is what limits snow work. Tracks are a genuine advantage over wheels here.

V-Plow FAQ

V-plow or straight blade?

V-plow if you're working varied conditions, breaking drifts, or need to both cast and carry. Straight blade if your routes are simple and consistent, and you want the lowest cost.

Will it damage pavers?

With a steel edge, yes. Use rubber or poly on decorative surfaces, or run an angle broom instead.

How deep of snow can it handle?

More than you should let accumulate. Multiple passes during an event beat one pass after — clearing at 2 inches three times is easier and leaves a better surface than clearing at 6 inches once.

Does it work on packed snow and ice?

It'll scrape packed snow with a steel edge. Ice is a de-icer problem, not a plow problem. Clearing to bare surface before it packs is what prevents the ice layer.

Will a plow from another brand fit?

If it uses the industry-standard universal mini skid mount, yes. Universal quick-attach is standard on every Yellow Jacket.

When should I order?

August through October. Snow attachments get tight by November and you don't want to be sourcing one during the first event.

Any maintenance?

Grease the pivot pins and cylinder points, check the cutting edge for wear before each event, and inspect the trip springs. Rinse road salt off after use — salt is hard on everything.
